(Chicago) Mayor Emanuel is vowing to phase-in a higher minimum wage in Chicago than Springfield politicians are planning for the entire state.
Rahm says he’ll push for a $13 minimum wage in Chicago even if the state enacts its pending ten dollar minimum wage.

Because there are still some black kids in Chicago that have jobs. Got to keep any of them from escaping from the government plantation.

$13/hr rate puts thousands more people on public assistance, some companies will go out of business, some companies will have to raise their prices, the government has to hire more people in their social services department to administer the new dependents, taxes will go up. Eventually Chicago will turn into Detroit.
The laws of economics will not be mocked.
Hopefully, now they’ll be able to purchase a gun to defend themselves from their brothas.

it’s usually obvious to me.
I’m all for a higher minimum wage for long term workers, along with EVerify and jobs going to qualified US citizens first. But $13 an hour? That’s nuts. That will put those high-paying jobs into the hands of suburbanites, highly qualified people from other areas moving in for them, highly qualified retirees looking for spending money and part time college students. It could created a situation where underemployed Chicago residents have to commute to the suburbs for lower paying jobs!
Go ahead and drive more business from the city. Those that stay will simply automate as much as possible.
Should be called the “20% minimum unemployment rate”.
Well, I guess we can say goodbye to fast food, unless they get those burger robots going.
