There’s no doubt that anybody given the name Douglas McAuthur McCain by his parents would have a strong urge to consider enlisting in the military, if only to live up to all of the history implicit in your name (even if the spelling of your middle name isn’t quite spot-on, and your last name was purely a coincidence).
It helps, though, to carefully choose the correct fighting force when volunteering, as NBC reports (yes, I know, but presumably, some of these details might be correct). As Bill Murray and the late Harold Ramis sang while marching in Stripes, goofing on TV recruitment ads, “Pick a service, pick a challenge, set yourself apart: Army! Navy! Air Force! Marines!” Err, ISIS?

I think it is time the Congress pass a law removing citizenship and passports from those who fight in foreign wars. Long gone is the Eagle Squadron. These people do not support US values and in fact are enemy agents should they return.

I am in no way judging his actions by his appearance, am merely correcting the record, as I had seen the guy on the news last night and knew the pic on this thread was not him.
Not a history expert here, but I think you are giving the Lincoln Brigades too much credit. Probably the major difference is that those guys actually had some intelligence and realized that they could destroy the country more efficiently by destroying its institutions from within.
And what we see now in so many sectors of society are the fruits of their efforts.
I doubt if this punk was actually named for Douglas MacArthur. For one thing, the name is not even spelled correctly. Chances are the mother heard the name of the general at some point and liked the euphony of it.
Then after changing his name, he went to fight for Allah and was, fortunately killed. Now he has discovered that the 72 virgins waiting for him were actually ugly Nuns with shotguns from 1947...
