Obama Pursuing Climate Accord in Lieu of Treaty (More Treason. Yawn.)
New York Slimes ^ | AUG. 26, 2014 | CORAL DAVENPORT

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is working to forge a sweeping international climate change agreement to compel nations to cut their planet-warming fossil fuel emissions, but without ratification from Congress.

In preparation for this agreement, to be signed at a United Nations summit meeting in 2015 in Paris, the negotiators are meeting with diplomats from other countries to broker a deal to commit some of the world’s largest economies to enact laws to reduce their carbon pollution. But under the Constitution, a president may enter into a legally binding treaty only if it is approved by a two-thirds majority of the Senate.

To sidestep that requirement, President Obama’s climate negotiators are devising what they call a “politically binding” deal that would “name and shame” countries into cutting their emissions. The deal is likely to face strong objections from Republicans on Capitol Hill and from poor countries around the world, but negotiators say it may be the only realistic path.

American negotiators are instead homing in on a hybrid agreement — a proposal to blend legally binding conditions from an existing 1992 treaty with new voluntary pledges. The mix would create a deal that would update the treaty, and thus, negotiators say, not require a new vote of ratification.

The word that comes to mind is "sleazy."

He’s gonna need the disciples who followed Jesus.

They were all in one Accord and the size of that car is going to restrict their movements...

...this is unConstitutional.

But since the Congress won’t do anything and some liberal judge will rule that’s it’s okay - well, I guess the rules are for little people anymore. :)

Ever notice the NYT never opens the comments section to these types of upheavals?

“To sidestep that requirement, President Obama’s climate negotiators are devising what they call a “politically binding” deal that would “name and shame” countries into cutting their emissions...”

and the Senate has the ability to nullify just such a deal.

One thing is certain, this is an administration hell bent on playing dirty pool and dealing from the bottom of the deck.

They have zero intention of following the Constitution of “Advise & Consent. As such, The Congress should end this charade.

I’ve noticed, more and more, that media outlets are allowing comments. And, those thay do, are requiring sighn-ups to places like Google and Facebook to do so. The noose is tightening.

without congress, he only represents his political party

and the last I checked, political parties are not allowed to make treaties with other countries

it might even be against the law (like that matters these days)

“I’ve noticed, more and more, that media outlets are allowing comments. And, those thay do, are requiring sighn-ups to places like Google and Facebook to do so. The noose is tightening.”

Well, the outlets committed to making money as opposed to those who are simply propaganda organs for the Obammunists and the like WANT comments, because the name of the game is page-hits multiplied by ads/page-hit, and reading and responding to comments generates WAY more page-hits than just the original content. In effect, the comments amount to free content.

So be happy that those who eschew user comments like The Slimes are simply hastening their own demise.

BTW, almost ALL outlets require some form of login, and using a fake facebook account is a handy way to have quick login credentials for hundreds of thousands of web sites. It’s also a centralized way to quickly scan for responses to your own posts so you can go back and knife anyone stupid enough to try and counter you.

Obama is scrambling to accommodate Steyer before the elections.

Seems like none of these ideas are going anywhere.

Kinda like how Reid passed the ACA.

He took an already passed bill, stripped it of its language and inserted 2500 pages of Obamacare.

Can you get more dictatorial?
