For some reason, the vast majority of Americans can’t get enough of bacon. So Sneakers Bistro in Vermont put up a big sign proudly advertising bacon on it. There’s just one snag: a local Muslim resident wasn’t happy about it and got the bistro to take it down...
One Muslim woman complained on a public forum that she took offense at the sign. The owners of the bistro ended up reaching out to her. They apologized and took the sign down, saying they didn’t mean to offend anyone with their bacon celebration.
The bistro tweeted out a link to an explanation on their Facebook page about the decision, but as of this posting their Facebook page is down....
They ended up getting quite a lot of negative reactions.
There are a lot of “halal” signs around Houston. I don’t like them but you don’t hear me crying about it. This is still a country of FREE SPEECH (at least for now)!
That says all that need be said.
I would have put up a sign offering bacon wrapped bacon. Double down!
If guilty white liberals want to take down a sign it’s fine with me.
It’s been proven over and over that if you give your lunch money to the school bully, he’ll leave you alone.... and never ask for more. /s
Did I miss the memo? When did reading the word BACON become an offence? She suffered no harm. She didn’t have to see actual bacon, smell it or eat it. She had the choice not to eat at the diner or look at the sign for that matter. We are on a very slippery slope when we accommodate that level of sensitivity.
Shucks, I thought that was the punchline. :-)
The restaurant is run by morons.
