They were probably assuming the eyewitness report was wrong. A reasonable assumption.
Still, they should be able to tell the difference between 4 men in a car and 1 woman and kids in a car.

Between makes and models? Yes, a lot of cars out there today look quite similar.
Between beige/tan and burgundy? No.
Really? If they assumed the eyewitness was wrong they can stop anyone. You. Me. Anyone.
I’ll just assume everything you type is wrong and go with that. Seems reasonable.
Only part. The part that would have prevented their stopping and terrorizing anyone they pleased. They were evidently quite happy to take the gun-waving part of the "eyewitness report" as gospel.
You are attempting to construct an excuse for LEOs to behave in an arbitrary and incoherent way. Please don't.
There’s NO SUCH THING as a “reasonable” wrong assumption in law enforcement..... there are far too many bad things that can happen when an armed cop makes a little mistake.
No offense DD, but if they assume the eyewitness report was wrong, then they can’t even know what to look for, so they should give up, right???
I mean, say the report is wrong...but still, why on earth would they assume a tan Toyota with 4 men should be compared with a burgundy Nissan with a woman and four little kids?!
