Hollande has the worst approval ratings of any French President on record. And yet, if someone remotely pro-free market got in and tried to cut spending and reduce taxes and regulation, there would be riots and they'd be booted out in a week. The French people are besotted with Welfare State Socialism just like the rest of the Western population; even moreso. They aren't angry at Hollande. They are angry that they can't get something for nothing -- have a productive economy while having the productive rich hand them a bunch of cash so they can live the good life too.

To sum up your statement: France is angry that their socialist utopia isn't actually as wonderful as they were told it was going to be!

You can substitute "Americans" for "French" and lose nothing in the translation.
