The Obama administration announced this weekend that it will be sending not one, but three, officials to attend the funeral of Michael Brown on Monday.
President Barack Obama is sending three White House officials to the funeral service of the Missouri teenager whose death in a police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, has sparked days of racial unrest.Leading the group for Monday's service will be the chairman of the My Brother's Keeper Task Force, Broderick Johnson. My Brother's Keeper is an Obama initiative that aims to empower young minorities. Johnson is also the secretary for the Cabinet.
Also attending will be the deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Marlon Marshall, and an adviser for the office, Heather Foster.
The decision would be highly questionable as is, but when compared to the White Houses presence at, say, the funerals of Maj. Gen. Harold Green or British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, its deplorable.
The White House has been selective in sending representatives to funerals recall that only alow-level delegation was sent to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatchers service last year. More recently, President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden skipped the funeral ofMajor General Harold Greene, the 2-star general killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 5.
(In case you were wondering, Obama was golfing during Greenes funeral.)
Quite predictably, neither close friends nor family will be delivering the 18-year-olds eulogy; it will be Rev. Al Sharpton.
Dear Lord, I hate this president more daily if that is possible...
This Country deserves better...
VOTERS...REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU GO TO THE POLLS IN NOVEMBER...
I will be closely watching what actions this Congress takes when they return...I say send them all packing...vote in NEW.
Imagine being forced to attend an Al Sharpton event. They can’t even have wine at the reception (unlike certain Knights of Columbus funerals I’ve attended) because the attendees would start shooting each other.
Pretty clear summary of Obama’s priorities.
Sadly you’re right, it’s happened way too many times.
I don’t doubt at all that Sharpton will turn the funeral into a race hustling protest.
I don’t blame Obama for not sending someone to the general’s funeral; why send someone to his and not the thousands of other military funerals over the past 10 years? At Margaret Thatcher’s funeral, the official U.S. delegation was led by Jim Baker and George Schultz. But for all that, sending three delegates to the Brown funeral shows that this administration is totally tone deaf. Why Brown’s funeral and not that black kid who was shot by police at the Ohio Walmart or the white kid shot by police in Salt Lake City? Why not all the kids killed by black gang-bangers in Chicago? It is stupid beyond description and totally par for the course for this president.
Probably a lot of money is going to change hands, and Brown’s parents will have a lifetime meal ticket, like Trayvon Martin’s parents.
That’s what white privilege gets you.
He’s an enemy islamist. Do you think he gives a damn for anything other than the destruction of Goodness?
Completely unsurprising and totally expected.
I have got to the point I cannot even generate an eye-roll anymore.
If it hurts this country, they will do it. That is the only predictive metric one needs to consider to see what is coming in any situation.
This is a thug who robbed a store and assaulted a police officer.
What on earth is our government doing sending “representatives” the the funeral of the thug?
Never mind. No need to ask that.
You’re correct my FRiend.
He does not act in what’s best for the country and our citizens but does it blatantly and arrogantly.
They do this stuff to tick us off. I hope no one complains publicly on TV broadcasts so they’ll think they failed to get us this time. Treat them as you would any enemy. Don’t let them know it gets to us!!!!
