A video was just posted on YouTube allegedly shot offshore Fiji showing fishermen clinging on to wreckage from what appears to be their boat while attempting to hide from the crew of another fishing vessel that was shooting at them with rifles.
Update: It seems this incident likely did not happen off Fiji, but was rather the result of a failed piracy attempt off Somalia against Taiwanese fishing boats.

Showed it to a Vietnamese tractor mechanic. Said the writing on the boats was Chinese and the men in the video were speaking Chinese. This probably happened out in the Pacific and not off of Somalia. Exhibits the violence that is occurring out there in the world between this and people getting their heads chopped off.

Where are the Americans? There has got to be Americans around. Everybody knows that the world is full of love and peace until Americans come into the picture.

Murder at sea is usually very hard to prove as there typically is no corpus. This case...a little different.

If it's pirates that are being shot, it's hardly "horrific".
What were they supposed to do - bring them aboard for milk and cookies? Eliminate the threat and prevent recidivism.

The Chinese taking active and decisive measures against pirates?
I remember when the Americans and Europeans used to do that, until they decided paying the ransoms would somehow make the problem go away.
What’s the good in “pivoting to Asia” if we won’t even trouble to sweep the sea lanes free of pirates?

Illegally fishing in dangerous waters of an anarchist state is never good for anybody.

From the comments people are saying the victims are from Fiji and the attackers are speaking cantonese. One person claims the boat was identified as from Taiwan, "Chun I 217, BI2353 owned by Tching Ye Fishery" There is slavery on a big scale with people from Thailand, Burma, pacific islanders.
