Three years ago, a small police department in Jennings, Mo., was so bedeviled by racial strife between its white officers and black residents that the city council fired the whole force and built a new one, the Washington Post reports.
One of the fired officers was Darren Wilson, 28, accused of shooting 18-year-old Michael Brown nearly two weeks ago on a hazy Saturday afternoon outside the youth’s housing complex in Ferguson, Mo., a predominantly black community.
In a step up from Jennings, Wilson, who is white, was hired three years ago by the Ferguson Police Department as a patrol officer. Indeed, Wilson, whose life has been marked by familial discord, including a recent split from his wife, hoped to find some semblance of normalcy working as a police officer, sources tell the Post.
“What he found in Jennings, however, was a mainly white department mired in controversy and notorious for its fraught relationship with residents, especially the African American majority,” the Washington Post writes. “It was not an ideal place to learn how to police. Officials say Wilson kept a clean record without any disciplinary action.”(continued)

If I were looking for a job as a police officer, I would not apply in Ferguson MO. I am certain that they are probably going to have a hard time finding new recruits.
Now, we are told that Office Wilson didn’t have a perfect marriage. People who work in dangerous occupations with odd hours tend to have more marital problems than your average Joe in a 9-5 job. It is the nature of the beast.
Ok....Wilson was imperfect at the time he was violently attacked by a known thief who assaults shop keepers.
Of course the reporterette failed to discuss the evidence or causes of the alleged "racial strife," but her article leaves the implication that it's all whitey's fault.

Why might I have a suspicion this strife increased in direct correlation with an increased “diversification” hirings program.
Yes, but Ferguson, Mo. should be referred to as an "historically white community." I think it's time the white people begin to reclaim what was orininally there's.

What the heck does the above mean? A relationship might be fraught with something but it is never a fraught relationship. I despise pseudo journolists who can not write a coherent sentence.

Robert Orr, the former Jennings police chief who retired in 2010, said of Wilson: “He was a good officer with us. There was no disciplinary action.”
Not a lot of blacks go into law enforcement. In Detroit where the population is 82% black, the police department is about 63% black.
The Devil’s in the innuendo and rumors. Wherever you have a culture of murmuring you’ll have Satan’s minions busying themselves with the destroying sins.
They only investigate people who are trying to put a stop to their agenda of disruption, violence, ultimate takeover and tyrannical rule of everyone else.
It’s attacking Brown’s character if you tell negative personal details of his life (of crime) but no problem, in fact, it’s GOOD to tell negative personal details of Wilson’s life.

They probably have a hard time qualifying. You've got to pass a test, and, if I'm not mistaken, have a clean record.
Assuming that the reports about the cop having suffered facial injuries are true (and I suppose we can’t be certain they are at this point) thoughtful,respectable Americans of all colors and political persuasions will come to at least *suspect* that this was a justifiable shooting.
Which is good. Even public workers like police, fire/EMS and teachers do not want to work in volatile places with high crime.
The ‘free market’ works in the way of employees too. \
Ditto shopkeepers in Ferguson.
I predict a ghost town with few shops and less police presence. Probably the same reduction in Fire/EMS, teachers, etc.
I would not want to work in a place like Ferguson in either public service or private business. They will eventually go the way of Detroit.

A 36-year-old woman walking through Central Park was shot in the back of the head with a pellet gun in an apparent hate crime, police said Saturday.
The shaken victim told the Daily News she was leaving the park at W. 60th St. and West Drive about 12:05 a.m. Monday when she strolled past a group of black youths.
The two men and three women — all in their late teens or early 20s — said nothing as they passed by. But moments later, the woman felt a “horrible pain” in the back of her head.
“My hand went up to my head, and there was blood gushing everywhere,” said the woman, who asked to be identified only as Hanna.
“I turned around, and I said, ‘What are you doing? Why are you doing this to me? What’s wrong with you people?’”
One of the women immediately unleashed a barrage of racial epithets.
“F—— you, you f——— white b——,” the woman hissed, Hanna recalled.
