The good news is that no one believes this stuff. I don’t think I’ve ever run into anyone who doesn’t understand that Islamic scripture, if read literally, sanctions all of the brutality that we’re seeing from groups like ISIS. The question is only over the degree to which Muslims understand their religion in an unreformed, literal way.
