Isil raises over $2m per day by selling oil

Dubai: The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (Isil), which controls a huge swathe of territory between Syria and Iraq, is selling crude from captured oilfields on the black market at less than half the global international prices, experts in the Middle East said.

The oil being sold by Isil ranges between $25 (Dh91.75) per barrel to $60 per barrel compared to the current market prices, which on Friday traded for about $102 for Brent crude. Brent is a benchmark for European, African and Middle Eastern oil. However, the illegal sale of oil by Isil will not have any impact on the global oil prices as the quantity traded is too small, they said.

How much do that Saudis make? If you want to put a dent in terrorist funding, that’s the place to start.

I can't help but feel that if we had a President who had a working give-a-damn, we'd be calling in Arclight strikes on every one of these oil fields.

That would be a message these orcs would understand very clearly. The fact that America is not doing this, well... that sends a message too. No wonder ISIS is so emboldened.

IIRC during the Reagan Administration the price of oil was forced down to a point where it greatly reduced the main income of the U.S.S.R. The rest is history.

It should be even easier to do that today, free our oil, reduce the income for the Islamists, and benefit millions of Americans!

Wot?

Oh yeah, I forgot. We got an Islamist sympathizer for president.

A whole $2M per day? They are mere pikers. They should form their own Central Bank and sell bonds instead.

However, the illegal sale of oil by Isil

It's illegal to sell cheap oil? Says who?

If you say it was somebody else's oil well and mineral rights well....they got overrun by a more ruthless and determined force.

Guess they'll be holding the title to the dirt and it's wealth instead.

We should have learned our lesson from 1973.

The Arabs are not our friends.

The more than ironic thing is....this admin is preventing the Kurds from selling their 1st Tanker of Oil onto the market. There was an article last week on how the ship has been forced to travel around the world in search of a buyer while Obama prevents the sale. Its presently anchored in Galvoston Tx. The Kurds via the Turks completed a pipeline to the black sea....but this admin is basically helping ISIS by shutting down the Kurds 100 million sale, which could be used for arms to fight ISIS.........

It's a different form of eminent domain.
