That's cool, man. After making Finals the last two years Spirit somehow ended up 17th this year.

Must admit, I have a hard time getting into modern drum corps. The Ole' Skool stuff just seemed more about the type/quality of the music and less about the choreography(difficulty)aspect. More military style/less hollywood-type theatrics.

That's not to take anything away from the current participants, the dedication/skill level required(particularly the drill)is pretty amazing to see.

Artists like the late great Jim Ott did wonders creating that crisp "wall of sound" back in the day for corps like BD & Spirit...I just miss that sound.

BTW, as a former 'contra player...just wondering if you've seen these guys?

They do a great job with this Don Ellis(& Madison)classic.

...the contra's definitely provide a nice burn ; )
