I always liked “Chloe” (aka Song of the Swamp), and found it strangely evocative. A 1920s song, but unlike the usual tin-pan-ally style. Seems more like a song that wasn’t actually composed, but just emanated up from the mists. Like another old standard, “Dinah.”

And no, don’t anyone mention Spike Jones’ 1940s parody of “Chloe” to me. It’s a decent parody, but it annoys me that most people I run into seem to primarily know the song from there, and it seems to ultimately lead to a belittling of what I frankly find a memorable tune.

Two different renditions of "Chloe," from 1928:

Chloe (The Song of the Swamp)--The All-Star Orchestra (vocal by Franklyn Baur)

Chloe (The Song of the Swamp)--Eva Taylor
