I agree, but now I’m drinking rum. There are some very good rums on the market. The smokey single malts like Laphroig taste like some filtered it through campfire ashes. Can’t handle that stuff.
Your thinking is in error. People may have discovered/popularized alcoholic beverages based on the biochemical effects, but most "drinking" in the ancient world was based on safety, not getting high. Water was deadly for most of human history, with wine being much safer to drink. Only since modern medicine has water been a staple of the masses. Even today, a beer is far safer in Mexico than the water...
I know I’ve read something more idiotic than this article. I just don’t remember when. It was probably years ago. I especially liked Tyrell’s assertion that we don’t drink for the alcohol effects. I suppose that’s why there is such a booming industry for non-alcoholic Scotch Whiskey.
I would never smoke a joint of today’s weed. One good toke would be plenty.
