If you’re not allowed to carry guns on campus for self defense, pepper spray is a cheap and legal alternative. Maybe Jewish students should consider this, since they’re going to get no support from university admins.
Agreed. It can easily save your life and your well-being. It can save many women from being raped as well.
Better yet, get a child's squirt gun and fill it with Da Bomb, which is essentially pure capsaicin, the active ingredient in chile peppers.
A nice pair of sap gloves could come in handy.

I would suggest using it on yourself first and getting used
to it before you use it on someone else. I know it sounds
crazy but once you do it it’s not as bad from then on. The
reason I say this is that if you use it in close quarters
you are most likely going to get some your self. It burns
and it feels like your face is going to fall off but it
goes away after a while.
When I was a kid a neighbor hood punk found some mace that
the mailman dropped (they used it on dogs) and walked up
to me and sprayed me in the face point blank. A few years later at a
club a chick went off on her boyfriend and maced
him and everyone around and once again I got it in the face
point blank. It hurt but it didn’t incapacitate me and I was
able to get it away from the raving chick.
