This guy Singer is a scumbag but I have to admit I like this idea. You get some scum of the Earth prisoner who will never be a productive member of society and will either be harming others or living off others until the day he dies. Why not let him choose to end it? It would save society some money and a lot of misery.

Actually, if you subscribe to secular humanism, as a larger number of people in this country do, he is imminently logical. Any notion of the value of human life beyond utility to the society as a whole is preposterous.

But note, Singer believes that a man suspected of murder should be able to go to a doctor to be killed to avoid prison. …

So why is it wrong when the criminal justice system executes the guilty, but it’s okay when a doctor “euthanizes” someone merely suspected of murder without involving due process of law?
