Yes I agree with this article. The current situation is going to turn Rick Perry into a rock star. Every talk show will be wanting him on and its going to add up to a lot of free national facetime with the public.
I’m sorry I bought into the RINO carpola early in the 2012 race. Everyone who is calling Perry a RINO needs to read his book. He’s a states righter and he does want smaller govt. If we don’t significantly reduce the size of the Bureacracy we will never rid ourselves of the progressives and this police state that has been erected.

We can hope, however, it didn't work for DeLay. I don't think this will work out different for Perry.
I would say its already working actually. People were lined up outside the police dept yesterday cheering Perry as he went in. He is never going to be convicted of anything and the charges will probably just be thrown out. He can campaign on this for 2 years.
Peering in from afar (Georgia), I see Perry as one of the only prospective GOP candidates who is bravely and openly walking his talk, and fighting the fight. From his fantastically prosperous state, to the border situation, to going against King Obama, he’s the fighter we need leading the way.
Debating isn’t leading. Obama is supposed to have been the “great orator”, but without his TelePrompTer, he’s just a disconnected series of “uh’ s and ahh’s”. And, Obama just talks, and never does anything...legal.
I sure don’t want Jeb, or Christie.

Wasn't Perry on medication for back problems during the last campaign? That would offer some explanation for his vapor-lock during a couple debates. Having been through nasty lower-back problems and muscle spasms, I know first-hand the brain's sharpness diminishes with the pain meds that are needed to lessen the agony.
I agree. Once this mess is deep in the rear-view mirror, part of his message could be legal reforms, to lessen the possibility of political hackery at the prosecution level.
My other fear is that Mitt will get in the 2016 race. If so I think Rick Perry and Ted Cruz are the only other people who could take votes from Mitt. We need to keep that in mind.
You don’t live in TX or you’d be looking elsewhere for a candidate. The first and foremost reason he’s stepping down from gov is because he knows TX has had our fill of his lib ways. The run for POTUS is nothing more than foder for his political ego. BTW, you do know that in TX, the office of the Gov is nothing more than a title. All the gov has to do is sit there and be pretty which Gov Goodhair has done. The real running of the state falls to the Lt. Gov and the Legislature.
The POTUS can’t rely on notes. He MUST be a brilliant off the cuff speaker.

Something to keep in mind: 14 years as governor provides ample opportunities to make enemies.
But one can't deny that Texas has unquestionably been the best governed state in the union across Perry's terms. It's true that the Texas constitution grants relatively more power to the Lieutenant Governor and the legislature at the expense of the governor. But the governor's office is not without power and, generally, his policies have prevailed.
One thing is for sure: If Perry were elected President, the 10th Amendment would enjoy a comeback. The power and size of the federal bureaucracy would be sharply curtailed.
Rick Perry is a politician, to be sure, but he is not a lib.
And, by the way, Perry's problems during his first run for the presidency in 2012 are largely attributable to pain-killers he was taking after a recent back operation. The slurred speech and forgetfulness were not characteristic. He is, in fact, pretty damn quick on his feet.

Can't happen. Constitutionally, the President and the VP cannot hale from the same state.
Bush and Cheney could avoid this problem by Cheney changing his place of residence to Wyoming -- which was where he was born, raised and where he served as a Congressman.
Perry and Cruz, however, are both lifetime residents of Texas (save Cruz' birth in Canada, of course).
What Article, Para, etc. of the Constitution says tha?
