Concerns arise about prosecutor in Michael Brown case
CNN ^ | August 20, 2014 | Leigh Ann Caldwel

".......Some residents and community leaders contend St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch has deep ties to the police and has favored law enforcement in criminal cases.

Missouri State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed launched a petition that now has more than 26,000 signatures to remove McCulloch from the case and replace him with a special prosecutor to handle any criminal case arising from the August 9 shooting of Brown, an African-American who was unarmed when killed by a white police officer......

.....The officer "should be charged and arrested. It's been over a week now," Patricia Bynes, the Democratic Party committeewoman for Ferguson Township, told CNN. We are "motivated to have a transparent case that's accountable to the community and to make sure justice is done at every level," Bynes said.

Bynes said McCulloch's ties with police in the county could cloud his judgment.

McCulloch's father was a police officer and was killed on the job in 1964 by an African-American man, when McCulloch was 12, Magee confirmed to CNN. In addition to his father, McCulloch's brother, an uncle and a cousin all served with the St. Louis Police Department, and his mother worked as a clerk at the department, Magee said.

McCulloch, who as a teenager lost a leg to cancer, made it his career ambition to become a prosecutor. He was quoted by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as telling a reporter, while first campaigning for the office: "I couldn't become a policeman, so being county prosecutor is the next best thing."..........

Holder in charge of anything even peripherally related to legal matters is really a case of the fox guarding the henhouse. He is the one who should be indicted. Let us count the reasons...

The article states McCulloch favors the police in prosecutions. The way it works here is the police present a case to the prosecuting attorney. He either agrees and brings charges or disagrees and does not bring charges. The prosecution and the police are different areas of the state’s justice system. They must work hand-in-glove to investigate, present and prosecute cases. So, what would it look like if McCulloch agreed with the police to bring a case and then did not support or tried to destroy the case they helped him build? Destroying that case is the defense’s job.

>> Missouri State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed launched a petition

Jamilah Nasheed, Democrat muslim high school dropout radical

Growing up in south St. Louis City, being one of a dozen female members of a teenage gang and ending up taking trips to the juvenile detention center, Sen. Jamilah Nasheed’s unconventional past did not stop when she reached adulthood.

After being “pushed-out” of the St. Louis public school system during her high school years, Jamilah started to change, she said, transitioning from being a “disturbed a kid to being an aware adult.”

Jamilah began attending a mosque on Grand Boulevard during what would have been her high school years, and ended up studying the religion for two years before eventually converting.
