They ply the kids with amoral socializing and wonder why the kids act up in amoral ways.

Oh please!

I lost interest half way, so forgive if I am redundant.

I think IN-school suspensions would be best, besides blatant expulsions. Who wouldn’t want to stay out of school? I had not heard of it before, but my husband’s schools had that. We did not (neighboring Monty). Wonderful, “bring your work, otherwise it is boring” all day.

Making nice-nice does not work. If anything, they are suffering from being too nice, not at all harsh.

It comes in the wake of new regulations from the Maryland State Board of Education that take a more rehabilitative view of student misconduct,

It is pathetic that this is described as a “progressive approach”. It is simply a more realistic approach to discipline because students who require frequent discipline don’t mind staying at home for a few days suspension. It is no punishment at all.

Can we take a vote among the states to eject Maryland from the Union?

Follow the money. The schools get their money based on attendance. In some Detroit government schools, they hand out free pizza on the day the student count is taken for state money. If they never show up again, the schools couldn’t care less.
