Well, then, as someone else suggested, put the ones that investigate state officials under the AG, so the STATE can vote on who runs things, rather than the people of Austin alone.

You’re missing the point. The Travis PIU is not exclusive to prosecuting state officials. It just happens to be a matter of jurisdiction because most of the crimes occur in Travis County. If bribery had occurred in Dallas County, then the Dallas PIU would have investigated/prosectud. The state has little to no investigative/prosecutorial arm. What you’re asking for, is basically for the state to create it’s own FBI. I don’t like my government making itself bigger and more powerful.
