I'm coming to really despise Paul Ryan! The problem has NEVER been the "deserving poor", who need a helping hand for a short time to get on their feet. It has always been the "undeserving poor" - the ones who make poor choices and then want to be paid for them. Think of the many fakers on disability for life. Think of Ferguson, MO. Think of the many liars who take welfare for life.

My wife is a nurse. Think of the many patients on Medicaid who are primarily going hospital to hospital for drugs. Think of some veterans: My SIL spent a day in the local VA hospital, and the doctors seemed shocked that he wasn't there to get morphine, that he in fact refused it.

Think of Section 8 housing, and women having 7 kids from 7 fathers without even thinking of marriage.

THOSE are the takers, Paul Ryan!

And folks wonder why I'm not willing any more to vote Republican because they are 'better than the alternative'. In many cases, they are just repackaged liberals...

He thinks veterans are “takers.”

Yup, Ryan is squish - it was his primary qualification for being Romney’s running mate.

Paul Ryan, starts with a “P” and is often followed by “willow”.

He like much of the republican party is such a let down. They called me a short while ago begging. I should have unloaded on them.

Yes, Paul, yes, your mom IS a taker. Now, we are a compassionate society, but takers should NEVER forget that often their existence relies on the good graces of others to WORK so that people like Ryan’s mom can survive.

Boy, he’s turned out to be such a disappointment. What a worthless follower. Anyone with an IQ of 50 can see we have 10s of millions in this country sucking the system dry. No one considers Medicare recipients takers. They paid into it. No one blames the guy on unemployment for the short term when there are no jobs. Ryan is a fool.

We should require all elected representatives to stay put in their respective states. They can use teleconferencing.

The air inside that Beltway is mind-altering or poison or something.

I had high hopes for this guy at one time!

Who was a taker? My mom, who is on Medicare? Me at 18 years old, using the Social Security survivor’s benefits we got after my father’s death to go to college? My buddy who had been unemployed and used job-training benefits to get back on his feet?

really? Paul Ryan cannot see the difference between those he described above and those who are actual TAKERS? he is no thinker...

He doesn’t address that gubmint’s helping hand keep growing the permanent takers, does he?

BUT.

He sounded ‘sincere’, and he’s ‘concerned’.

Look to similar performance to ‘unaccompanied children’.

This is one of the Wunderkinds GOP was so proud of!

Paul Ryan as is the case with all 535 elected people in DC (with a few notable exceptions) is they are all there for one reason and one reason only.......to get re-elected and cling to power and line their families nest with gold.

There is only ONE POINT and that is that the Federal Government is too inept to run or manage any program of any kind or nature whatsoever and NONE of these programs are necessary at the Federal Level and none of them existed 100 years ago. They should all be taken over and assimilated by the States over a period of years and ALL agencies shut down without exception and their buildings permanently bulldozed and made into parkland, or wilderness! Then, we only need the FAB 535 to meet once every other year for a limited six months period. Just like in Texas. Pay: $8,000 a year plus travel expenses. All political “Parties” should be outlawed.

I could go on and on but that’s today’s rant.

I’m not clicking on Ryan’s new policy ideas or his op-ed.

But did he say what his on-the-spot reply to the man’s “Who, exactly, are the takers?” question was?

Would be a window to his soul.

Anyone can fall on hard times and need help, for a while.
Anyone can become sick or injured.
The problem is when handouts become a multi-generational lifestyle.
No society can afford too many on welfare. The economy breaks down.

The phrase gave insult where none was intended. People struggling and striving to get ahead—that’s what our country is all about. On that journey, they’re not “takers”; they’re trying to make something of themselves. We shouldn’t disparage that.

Paul needs to visit an inner city housing project. 4 Generations of Government check parasites. They damned sure aren't going to change that cycle either. Yeah Paul they are Takers. They will riot and burn the place down if you dare question their "right" to my hard earned money.

ES Paul Ryan.

Ryan is a complete F-ing idiot if he doesn't see that there is a huge class of people -- white and black -- who aren't interested in getting ahead and who want to sit on their lazy asses and collect a government check. Those people should be insulted and demeaned. And Ryan is a complete F-ing idiot if he doesn't see that we can't afford to keep middle class entitlements at the levels they are at. We are running trillion dollar deficits. And he no longer wants to fight the fight to bring them down because he thinks he's insulting his mommy and his deadbeat unemployed buddy.

I am so F-ing sick of this idea that living within our means as a national government is "harsh" and "cruel" and "insulting." We have to cut spending. Yet idiots like Ryan have decided to give up on the fight because they think its mean.

We may not agree on some other topics, but we certainly agree here...and I like your phrase, “The Makers and Fakers”! That is the problem, whether they are illegally here in AZ believing La Raza’s lie that this land belongs to them, or those sitting at home on the sofa watching Oprah and demanding payment, or whether they are the protestors who garner media spotlight, it is the “fakers” that need to be pulled off the spigot. Wake up Ryan...and McCain, and Flake, and...

While most makers are laudable, there is a divide among takers. There are the takers by necessity, and the takers by choice. We need to make it harder to be a taker by choice.

People who get social security and veterans benefits aren’t takers. They are collecting what they saved and earned respectively.

Hey Paul, you idiot. We dont disparage the broken, the bad luckers, the short termers. We do disparage the takers, the lifers, the druggers, the STD transmitters, the criminals, the political dependents.

And the politicians that use them or apologize for them.
