When has a 12% minority ever defeated a 72% majority in world history? I can think of no such example and I’m a pretty big history buff. Can anyone here show me such an occasion?

That was after what amounts to a civil war, religious war, insurgency and invasion, all rolled into one. Have we had any of those here since 1865?
