Radio caller: Michael Brown rushed officer

FERGUSON, Missouri (CNN) —The Ferguson, Missouri, police officer who killed Michael Brown says the teenager rushed at him full speed in the moments before the shooting, according to an account phoned into a St. Louis radio station and confirmed as accurate by a source with detailed knowledge of the investigation.

According to the account on KTFK, phoned in by a woman who identified herself as "Josie," the altercation began after Officer Darren Wilson rolled down his window to tell Brown and a friend to stop walking in the street.

When Wilson tried to get out of his cruiser, Brown first tried to push the officer back into the car, then punched him in the face and grabbed for his gun before breaking free after the gun went off once.

Wilson pursued Brown and his friend, ordering them to freeze, according to account. When they turned around, Brown began taunting Wilson, saying he would not arrest them, then ran at the officer at full speed, according to the caller.

Wilson then began shooting. The final shot was to Brown's forehead, and the teenager fell two or three feet in front of Wilson, the caller said.

The account matches Wilson's telling of events to investigators, according to the source.

If true, the account represents the first telling of events from the perspective of Wilson, whose shooting of Brown has touched off nightly protests and violence in the suburban St. Louis city.

“There are plenty of decent blacks who might finally say “enough” with the race baiters and those with an agenda ruining their lives.”

I’m sure of that. Perhaps that’s what the warning spray painted on the QT was, “snitches get stitches”? More afraid of the abuse they might get for not towing the line of the Justice Brothers?

How is it that the accomplice got behind the car, but Brown did not?

Dorian Johnson said he hid behind a car when the shooting started...

Forgive me if this has been discussed already...

Dorian Johnson better be very, very careful of what he says.

If the shooting of Michael Brown is tied back to the convenience store robbery, then by law, if Johnson was an accomplice in that robbery he can be charged with homicide in the death of Brown.

We had a robbery shooting here last year where four yutes from nearby Castro Valley tried to rob a local pawn shop. The owner shot and killed one of the robbers, and the other three ran away. They were all eventually caught and charged with robbery and homicide in the death of their friend.

Johnson could be in the same situation if the shooting of Brown was a result of the QuikTrip robbery that Johnson was also involved in.

Police officer wrote in comment section...

..Officers are trained to neutralize the threat, not shoot to kill. As part of that, a suspect who is still moving is a threat. We are taught to keep firing our sidearm until that threat is eliminated, which means no longer moving. The last shot to the head is not only acceptable, but trained procedure.

People who say 6 shots are excessive, should know the rules before commenting. 6 shots is rather conservative, given the size of the suspect. The officer didn’t even fire all the rounds in his weapon.

Thank heavens someone called this in. Hopefully there is an eye witness that comes forward to help the officer.

No, it wouldn't have been prevented.

Faced with facts, and video evidence, the protestors have continued their cry that this was an execution.

There's other things at work here, and it has more to do with the rabble rousers than what really happened on the street in Ferguson.

“There are plenty of decent blacks who might finally say “enough” with the race baiters and those with an agenda ruining their lives.”

When I lived in a mixed neighborhood in South Philly around 1990, there was a great sense of community pride among the more mature and open-minded black people. They knew the war for equality was over, and they’d won (which is good for everyone). They welcomed white people to their music concerts and other cultural events, because they believed in integration and cooperation, as well as positive ethnic pride.

That was before the hip-hop revolution and the rise of gansta thug culture. That’s where the division happened inside their own community, when the 1960s throwbacks started to attack all the progress that had been made, and re-open old wounds.

These days, I suspect the majority of older, employed, church going, and responsible black people (like the ones I knew in Philly) would prefer that cultural split had never happened. They knew that everybody was on a good road together before that nasty hip-hip sh*t came along and set integration back 30 years.

Johnson said he hide. He looked for a hiding place when things went south.

Michael Brown did not want to hide.

Checking the identity of the governing officials in Ferguson, MO and the County of St Louis. The following was found online: The Mayor of Ferguson is black. The Chief Executive Officer of St Louis County is black and a democrat. The County Council is democrat 5-2. The Prosecuting Attorney which the blacks fear will be prejudiced in favor of the Ferguson police officer is a democrat. If I was the white police officer whose fate could be determined by these politicians I would be very, very worried. The black racists in St Louis will settle for nothing less than taking the policeman out for a lynching.

The left wants the ISSUE not the solution.

not justice.

A issue to justify al Sharpton race baiting on TV. Pundits pontificating. Cover for Obama signing executive orders.

Of course, they need to be called out. People (on all sides) need to understand that investigations like this take some time. And that early leaks of investigation in these kinds of investigations are often inaccurate (whether unintentionally, or purposefully to stoke the fires).

This may have been a justifiable shoot. It may have been a borderline shoot. It may have been a criminal act. At this point in the investigation, no one really knows, and people who may know a little bit—particularly those in positions of authority or other high-profile positions (::ahem::benjamincrump::ahem::)—should really learn when to shut the hell up.

The cigars were not stolen from the Quick Trip.

According to police reports released Friday, authorities received a 911 call at 11:51 a.m. on the day of the shooting reporting a robbery at the Ferguson Market. An unidentified officer was dispatched to the store, arriving within three minutes. The officer interviewed an employee and customer, who gave a description of a man who stole the cigars and walked off with another man toward a QuikTrip store.

Descriptions of the suspect were broadcast over the police radio. The officer did not find the suspects either on the street or at the QuikTrip, the reports said.

The robber took a box of Swisher Sweets, a brand of small, inexpensive cigars. The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Michael Brown and 22-year-old Dorian Johnson, according to the reports.

Separately, Wilson had been responding to a nearby call involving a sick 2-month child from 11:48 am until noon, when he left that place. A minute later, he encountered Brown walking down Canfield Drive. The documents contained no description of what happened between Brown and Wilson.
