The unspoken major factor for creating a stressful environment for young black males is the lack of a father in the family.

From what? Themselves and their tribal-entitlement culture?

How much taxpayer money has been spent since LBJ started the war on poverty? How many preschool, after school, midnight basketball and other such programs? How much money never made to the kids and families because it was used to pay helping Charities, minority groups and their high salaries or was kicked back to the democraps. And the biggest question, how much of that money was directed to community organizers?

How much money and assistance will be enough? Until the Black community finally refuses to be victims and the concept of family once again becomes important within the whole the problem will not be solved.

the United States has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world; this seems to be a deliberate strategy to deal with black males who are frequently viewed as a threat to the social order.

Oh, blah, blah, blah...BS. Black leadership in this country has failed to place the blame where it belongs...on the black family unit. 72% of black children are illegitimate and part of the reason is because single mothers have greater benefits if there is no male present. The US has thrown over $2 trillion towards this problem since the War on Poverty began under Johnson. Until I see blacks trying to help themselves, I see no reason why I should see any more of my tax dollars going their way. Indeed, I think all welfare recipients, if they can fog a mirror, should show up M-F for a gov't job cleaning toilets, washing windows, whatever needs to be done. If they have small kids, they still show up for work, but a small stipend is paid for child care, which does down the more kids you have. Germany did a program like this an welfare claims fell like a stone. I also think it would shore up the black family.

I won’t buy that anymore......there’s plenty of others without fathers who make something of themselves who are raised by single mothers. My mom raised four of us after my dad died.

What is needed is teaching black mothers how to work and be responsible for their children....and that means if they commit crimes they pay with jail time.

Unfortunately the black mothers are more times then not quite willing to sit around and do their nails and sit on the welfare system rather than see to the affairs of their children......when they can love their children enough to set a good example this isn’t going to change.

i read this idiotic article. the comments were great. she spells her name jewelle, how quaint. she is professor emerita of UC Berkeley’s School of Social Welfare which explains everything else. what has she done? she wrote a book in 1988 that obviously no one read. naturally she wants more money but refuses to understand the basic solution. the feral government caused this and they don’t intend to admit that or fix it.

The tragic death of Michael Brown, a college-bound black male in Ferguson, Mo., is just the latest example in the past 25 years of brutal beatings and killings of unarmed black males by the police, from the highly publicized cases of Rodney King in Los Angeles, Amadou Diallo and Abner Louima in New York City in the 1990s to the more recent killings of Eric Garner on Staten Island and Ezell Ford, a mentally impaired 25-year-old in Los Angeles on Monday. In the first three cases, predominantly white juries were unwilling to convict the police despite overwhelming evidence of excessive force and intentional culpability to harm these victims.

That would come as news to Justin Volpe, doing 30 years in the Louima case. Of course, it would require a whole ten seconds of google searching to find this out.

The Democratic/Marxist "rescue plan" for black men has been in place for years, but apparently it's not working well enough:

"I had thought that at the time Roe [v. Wade] was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion." -- Ruth Bader Ginsberg, U.S. Supreme Court Justice

As long as there are millions of guilt-ridden white liberals excusing the behavior of people like Michael Brown, we should not expect the situation to improve.

I’ve had enough of saving black culture.

From St Trayon , to ‘My people’ Holder, and all the media talking heads along with their academia cohorts blaming years of white racism , I no longer care.

It’s tough to rescue urban ghetto youths whose motto is gibtz me dat...

Conservatism cannot save someone whose hell bent on burning the world from real or perceived sleights .

To hell with them...wall them off and let them kill each other....

That is the absolute truth. When they were born, every one of these gangbanger types had the potential to be a decent human being.Government policies stole that life from them.

St. Louis citizens (and I was one for years) learned the real reason for Ferguson years ago. It was called Pruitt-Igoe and it started all this with the removal of the father in order for the mother to get welfare.

Rescue them from what? Their own morbidity? Their own feral instincts? The bondage of patronage? The Victim Industrial Complex with its lowered expectations?

The first group in line for that "rescue" would be whites, who bear the costs of these repeated failures. The problem is, there is no RESCUE doing the same old things that have failed over and over again!

This is NOT a problem that is going to be solved by money, or by the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Rescue them? Just lock them all into a big stadium and give them all the alcohol, weed, crack, meth, molly, etc... that they want. Then throw in some spears and knives and let nature take it’s course.

All I hear from the liberals, socialists and communists are “POOR, DOWNTRODDEN, OPPRESSED BLACKS”. They have been given no other options but to rob, steal or riot. Let’s add the “BLACKOUT” games to this. Let me ask this question; “WHO IS EDUCATING THEM?, WHO ARE THE POLITICIANS THAT ARE RUNNING THEIR CITIES? WHO ARE THE ONES THAT KEEP REMINDING THEM HOW “WHITEY” IS OPPRESSING THEM? WHY DO THEIR MISERABLE LIVES NEVER SEEM TO END? The answer to all these questions is THE LIBERAL, SOCIALIST AND COMMUNIST DEMOCRATS. Have their lives improved by electing these DEMOCRATS into office ever since the 1960’s. You all know what the answer to that.

In this day and age, an 18 year old is not a “yoot”. We’ve got “UNACCOMPANIED” toddlers, still in diapers, making dangerous treks across Central America and Mexico just to take a whack at the BIG piñata!
