Teachers union backs Sharpton’s planned anti-police rally

The teachers union is pitting its members against cops — by sponsoring and promoting the Rev. Al Sharpton’s anti-police rally in Staten Island next week, The Post has learned.

The United Federation of Teachers sent an “action alert” e-mail that even promised free transportation to Sharpton’s Aug. 23 demonstration that is billed as a march for justice for “victims of police brutality.”

Some teachers were furious that the union would take such a prominent role in the event.

“What a disgrace. What is going on with the leadership of the UFT thinking it’s OK to protest against rank-and-file cops?” asked one teacher. “Would we want cops protesting in front our schools over low test scores?”

The union is one of four sponsors of the rally, which will feature the family of Eric Garner — a 43-year-old who died last month after an NYPD chokehold during an arrest for selling loose cigarettes....

As one former Teacher’s Union member explained to me, ‘our job is to babysit them until they go to prison’.

Rally dot yeah! And these are the asshats that teach a lot of the kids out there? Nice. Maybe they can recruit their students for extra credit towards their community service credits. Guess I’ll go hurl my taco salad now. ;>{>>>>>>

How does participating in (FBI snitch) Al’s protest fit in to the mission statement of a teacher’s union? Hey Teachers, keep paying those dues, ok? It’s for the children, after all.

That sounds about right. It was my job to babysit them AFTER the teachers did. They got it right.

Judging from some of the comments on FR, some Freepers may want to join it. Amazed at the anti-police posts I’ve read.

Be a real shame if the Ferguson PD found out who these teachers’ union reps are and their license plate numbers.

Well, I am not a huge fan of the cops either, but I am not going to join in. I had three bad experiences with California cops. The only thing I was doing, was DWW, driving while white. My wife had one bad experience. She was DWF, driving while Filipina. In my wife’s case, the idiot cop called for back up. When the back up officers arrived, and saw the situation, they, in so many words, told the first cop that he was stupid. At least the pair that arrived had an ounce of brains between them.

Teachers were never even consulted about this DISGRACE. When I got an email about this from a colleague tonight---NOT from the union--I was incensed.

I sent copies of the flyer to a bunch of colleagues, none of whom had even heard of this.

The union just decided to take our dues monies to squander on crap like this, and our collective good professional name to besmirch by associating it with thug actions like this. They are even paying for a bus to transport any idiot who want to participate in this, flyers to advertise it, etc.

Also, I am extremely angry that they are siding with THUGS against a fellow union, the police, whose help we may someday need.

Personally, I do NOT support any of the organizations participating in this garbage--National Action Network, ACORN, and the NAACP. I recently turned off my automatic $1 payroll contribution to supposedly political causes for the dear old UFT after I saw it supplying warehouse space that MY dues paid for to Occupy Wallstreet trash and using the money for a bunch of other actions which had nothing to do with the welfare of its members.

The UFT's purpose is supposedly to help their members, which they do VERY little of. Nowadays, they are just a de facto extension of the mayor's office, consenting to measures that screw the members over. And we have to pay dues for this! Most assuredly, their purpose is NOT to support street thugs like Sharpton, who makes his money by threatening to sic his thugs on businesses and government entities unless he's paid off under the table.

Still wondering where Sharpton was when the Capitol Hill Police shot & killed an “African American” driver.

Well the head of the union, Mike Mulgrew, is a thug himself. A real thick mick you got running the show there. He makes Randi Weingarten look like Princess Grace.

Marching in Staten Island. Boy that takes guts, surprised it’s not NY City or Newark. Now that would be real fun and games.

She had a job and skill set training, it was just a matter of time before she became a republican.

If the “Street Rat”, gimedat animals would grow up and get over the “poor me” culture and stop their corrupt ways, perhaps there would not be so many stories like we see coming from Furgeson.

Blacks bring it upon themselves. Police don’t go around seeking black people to take some hostilities out on. Yes, there are cops who are bad but there are a hell of a lot more good cops than bad cops.

As a former NYC teacher I say it is time the members remove Mulgrew. He is not interested in the good teachers or the children.Al Shanker would be mortified to see a UFT President selling out another Union. This could be the end of Mulgrew.Good riddance to the lightweight.

There is another story in today’s post about this.

It includes the quote from PBA Head Pat Lynch, it is so good, I almost can’t believe it’s true, but I really hope it is.

“How would he like it if police officers lined up with the activists who oppose his efforts to shield bad teachers and undermine effective charter schools?” Lynch fumed.

TELL THE TRUTH PAT LYNCH!
