A comforting sight in hotel rooms for 126 years. Until now. If you’re staying in a Travelodge and you get a hankering to save your mortal soul, don’t bother. The management has decided to pull every single Gideon Bible from bedside tables in their hotels, on the grounds of "diversity" and not wanting to cause offence. Who, pray, might be offended? Cut to a Satanist coming down to reception at 1.30 in the morning, covered in goats blood, slamming a Bible down on the desk and saying, “What the Hell is this doing in my room?”
Travelodge's decision is irritating on three grounds.

Well, that’s the issue. If they did this out of government force or some kind of fraud, then it wasn’t a voluntary choice.
But my point remains: their freedom to choose is not limited by my or your disagreement with that choice.

How about keeping it in there, on the grounds of diversity. Christians are a minority.
They are fine with the sexualized lyrics of current pop tunes, just nothing that is overtly Christian or sings praise to Jesus. It seems to me to be a type of Jizya.
Travelodge in the UK is a different company from Travelodge in the US, different ownership, different management. Travelodge UK bought the rights to use the name in the UK; that’s the only relationship between the two.

Wow! I guess Travelodge decided to stir things up a little and offend some customers that didn’t need offending.
Smooth move Travelodge. For your next act why don’t you provide free booze in your lobby 24/7.

The article speaks to Travel Lodge in the UK. Since this is a hotel chain, there is no reason to think it does not apply to the US. It’s just that the American media hasn’t either heard of or written about it.
I have come to truly hate the word “diversity.”
When I travel, i want a motel with the three B’s—bed, bath and Bible. Since Travalodge now only offers two of the B’s, I won’t stay there.
so taking away one view is an increase in diversity?
who stops other groups putting their book in the hotel?
secular humanists could put a book there if they wanted.
but because one group makes an effort to put their book out and all the rest don’t,....
real tolerant. really increasing diversity.
A natural progression from the premise that “all cultures are equal” Boko Haram would love it!
Will they put them back just like the Navy put them back in rooms?
