A timely reminder of this work "The Camp of the Saints" by Jean Raspail. First edition Lafont SA 1973.I have my copy to hand, printed by The Social Contract Press of Petoskey, Michigan. I travelled the 90 miles to get it and enjoy their "Gas Light District".

The author has been lambasted by the usual suspects prior to more recent events. He was called a racist and of utter "fantasy". The cover shows people in blankets on a shore with a rust bucket freighter off shore.

Yet about fifteen years after the publication, a rust bucket German freighter anchored off Nova Scotia, Canada. The Pakistani passengers were almost to riot conditions in Germany. The Germans had them in a holding camp. Full room and board and waiting process.

They paid money and were off loaded into life boats. The Captain sailed away. Just like the cover of my copy, they were given blankets. A Canadian news crew interviewed the spokesman for the group. The news man said that "surely you are not refugees," reasoning this, because Germany is not a violent country. The spokesman said they had just come from the Indian Ocean from India. He kept saying in a high pitched voice "Are you calling me a liar?"

The newsman appeared intimidated. I still don't know what the 250 "refugees" finally did, probably stayed and complain about Canadians failing to adhere to THEIR cultural practices. (laughs).

Up in Great Lakes country and nothing has hit here- yet! Local academic institutions absolutely euphoric about "overseas students" picking the city to study. Profiles in the local press. So it goes!

A bit of a ramble, but I have not posted for five days.

Could the Obummer Administration have been inspired by this relatively obscure book?

Amazing, isn’t it, how many Europeans have not heard of that book?

And yet it is the future that is playing itself out as we speak.
