At least one person is killed every day by a U.S. police officer, a new report says. On average, local police forces kill 400 people every year in the Unites States, according to a seven-year FBI study. In 2012, cops were responsible for 410 deaths. All but one was with a firearm. About a fourth of those annual incidents — about 96 a year, or two every week — involve a white officer and a black victim, USA Today reported.

I agree.
I suspect the number of cases where police draw a weapon but don’t shoot far outweighs the number of cases where they shoot. I think its probably safer to confront police than to confront the average citizen.
Just this past winter there was a case (posted here at FR) about a punk breaking into a house and threatening a woman with a machete. She had a gun and managed to back him out of her house without shooting where he confronted two cops who also didn’t shoot him. They talked him down and arrested him without further incident.
A couple years ago in Brooklyn Michigan just a few miles south of me, 2 cops were chased around their car by a nut with a chain saw. Again they talked him down and arrested him without further incident.

Setting law enforcement aside, how many people die every year in Black on White crime?
Adding to the discussion, take a look at this map of Chicago .... there isn't a single safe neighborhood one can go in without fear of being murdered.
Not exaggerating. This map is why I conceal/carry when I go to work every day. I don't give a damn' about the "no guns on trains" bullshit either. I'd rather get bailed out of jail than killed by some whack-job on Chicago's rolling murder fields (The Metra system) every day.
Irrelevant. What matters is that when a White kills a black whether in self defense or during a crime, it's an act of malicious racism that sets blacks across America into riot.

Extrapolation would suggest that the police are killing more than twice as many white people each year as they should!

Or less than 25% and considering many of the “whites” were actually “white hispanics, white asians, or other white misc.” against a criminal population of 50% black.

Some basic statistical analysis shows that blacks are more than twice as likely to be "victims" as non-blacks.
Or, more likely, they are more than twice as likely to be involved in actions that necessitate officers to use deadly force.
