Due to the lack of support from local residents and successful operation by the Ukrainian army, the terrorists have realized they are in a desperate position. It follows from a telephone conversation between a FSB agent in Donbas and his boss in Crimea intercepted by Ukraine secret service Aug. 15.
The Russians are moving their agents within the terrorist groups in Donbas to Crimea, Ukraine SBU says, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
When I pass some locals they keep telling me Damn you! the FSB agent, alias Trifon, says in the conversation.
The terrorists are merely marauders. You open to them the border and they steal cars here in Donbas to resell them in Russia, the FSB agent says.
In the conversation, Trifon discussed plans of his withdrawal to Crimea.
Russian FSB agents stealing cars? What a surprise. I thought they were freedom fighters. Waiting for the rebuke of the Putinista brigade.
They’ve been helping themselves to anything and everything. What little support they had, dropped dramatically.
Strelkov resigned and “left town.” Which town and where to remains a Q. But perhaps he will make a visit to Uncle Joe Stalin’s wine cellar...
It sure looks like they’re planning to try to break through to the south. But that looks like a real long shot to me. Way too much ATO territory to go through. Ukraine has set up local anti-terrorist militias in every little town on the way - nothing that could stop an organized effort by the main forces in Donetsk, but certainly enough to slow them down enough that the military could wipe them out - if they could even break through / get around the southern blockade to begin with.
The Russians have been pushing really hard south of Antratsyt (where they have regular supplies from Russia) to move the front westwards, with some degree of success, but time is not on their side.
Frankly, I would think it righteous and reasonable to execute all FSB agents in the Ukraine on principle.
