Im a Democrat. Ive been a Democrat my entire life.
I used to utter those two sentences with pride and would shout them from the highest rooftops. Now, Im almost embarrassed to say those words.
I almost cant articulate my political affiliation in public (or on the radio) without immediately offering an apology and an explanation.
How did I get here?

Democrats like Piscopo lie, it’s who they are.
Its just dawning on this idiot, in 2014, that Democrats are no longer for strong defense and lower taxes? That whatever conservatism Kennedy had in him has not been in any Democrat in the past 30 years? Has he been living in a time warp???
When I see the name Joe Piscopo, I can’t help thinking of Joe Pepitone, one of the goofiest baseball players of all time.
As nations go socialist, the first to stand up in revulsion are the former supporters of the government....but they are the first sent to the gulags or executed.
Ole Joe will wake up when he realizes the Rats gave his Social Security and Medicare funds to Moveon and Acorn for community agitation.
Stupid is as stupid does.
“I dont think Im ready to become a Republican yet ...”
Sadly, that’s not nearly as big a step as he thinks it is.
Bingo! They will get rid of the “intellectuals” in Academia first. Whe it happens I hope I am around long enough to see that purge!
Watching Paul Krugman do the frog march will be priceless.
I like him but its clear he never had a clue.
When I met President Reagan, I felt inspired. I want to feel inspired again. Like Reagan, I think the time has come for me to leave the party Ive been a member of my entire life not because I want to leave it, but because it has already left me.
Only principle can overcome populism that almost always leads left to lawlesness and socialism. As GOP abandons its principles it abandons the only thing it has that makes it worth anything.
You are a sicko.
He still does not get it
He is unhappy that the Democrats have not been able to create a utopia in this nation.
Joe, read my lips, Socialism never works, never has, never will.
You want a prosper, happy people, allow them to achieve success through hard work. Also, the flip side is you must allow them to fail so they will know the difference.
A social safety net is just a prison without the bars.
Want a safer neighborhood, instead of fighting for more gun control, allow citizens to be armed and allow them to protect themselves. This is the way our nation was founded. A town may have had law officer but when real trouble rode in, every man was expected to be armed and help protect their friends and neighbors. Contrary to the movie myths, gun fights were rare in the “wild west” where everyone was armed.
Want a better future for children, put the locals back in charge of education (and forbid public employee unions). I will guarantee you that if the parents were in charge of what was being taught we would have a lot more basic skills and knowledge and a lot less of social engineering.
Want more jobs. Restrict regulation to the bare necessity of maintaining public safety and health. The world was a better place when “Buyer beware” was enforced instead of believing nothing can go wrong because the Federal Government says so.
In other words Joe, you want utopia, vote for less taxes, less regulations, less public spending, less social engineering and more personal responsibility.
Joe Piscopo is a tired has-been who senses a shift in the political wind and is desperately trying to become relevant again. His estimation of the modern political landscape is about as meaningful as his contributions to astrophysics.
All the people on this thread throwing darts at Joe need to stop. He is the kind of Democrat that shares lots of common ground with us.
Utopia not possible, socialism is communism is fascism is death
Exactly. Dims suffer through miserable candidates thinking, if only they had a better democrat ........ Sort of the way die hard republicans are.
So if he really does have common ground with us then why was he a democrat to begin with? And why should we have any confidence in him if he can be fooled so easily?
He's coming around, pain is good for that, but he still has lots of bugs in his operating system. He gets some things right, but screws the good up with things that are backwards and are actually the cause of his problems. Tricky how that works.
And with so many fallacies working in concert, it's no wonder he's apologizing for being a demonrat. That's part of the early stages of an operating system crash.
Now, if he'd just look a bit more closely at what those communists believe and why JFK opposed them and what they're about, he might clear out the worst of those bugs in his operating system and clearly see what happened to his party and country.
When I see the name Joe Piscopo I think NOTHING!
Never heard of him down here in Central Texas!
Who the hell cares what he thinks about ANYTHING?!
With all that is going on in the world, I don’t even care enough about who he is to Google him.
Welcome to the Republican Party, Joe.
