As a person with a foreign born mother, who has lived overseas, I can tell you that having a dual nationality is beneficial and fairly common. In other countries having a citizenshsip will allow more access to services at better rates.

When applying for colleges, and jobs, people are advised to use their minority, or foreign born, status because of quotas and scholarships. It looks good for colleges to have students from around the world, and the scholarships available to these groups are the motivation.

They scammed the system that's all. Very consistent with Obama owing thousands in parking tickets in NY, without ever having paid, until he was elected.
