Children to Be Classified as 'Homeless' to Avoid School Enrollment Documentation Requirements

“In light of the heightened media coverage of the issue of undocumented immigrant children, VDOE provides the following updated information for your use in responding to community questions or issues,” says the memo distributed to the commonwealth’s 132 school divisions and obtained by Breitbart News.

SNIP

“While a case-by-case review of each child’s circumstances upon enrolling in a Virginia public school is necessary, many of these unaccompanied children will be deemed homeless under applicable state and federal law,” the memo reads. It goes on:

Pursuant to Va. Code § 22.1-3, a homeless child is one who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. The statute specifies that, included in this definition, are ‘unaccompanied youths who are not in the physical custody of their parents, who... are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or other causes; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to lack of alternative adequate accommodations or in emergency, congregate, temporary, or transitional shelters; are abandoned in hospitals; or are awaiting foster care placement…’

SNIP

Under McKinney-Vento, school districts must appoint a local liaison to ensure, among other things, that (1) children and youth eligible under McKinney Vento are identified; (2) that they immediately enroll in, and have a full and equal opportunity to succeed in, the schools of the district; and (3) they receive educational services for which they are eligible, and referrals to health care services, dental services, mental health services, and other appropriate services.

SNIP

“In addition, division superintendents cannot exclude from school attendance those homeless children who do not provide the requisite health or immunization information required of other students,” the memo continued.

Easy fix to this horse shit...declare homeless children ineligible for school, food stamps, or any other assistance.

Sounds like the schools won’t know if they have been vaccinated or not?

If the superintendents had any balls they would tell the state to stuff it. Make them go to court over every illegal.

Yeah we just moved to another county just north of where we were living and I had to sign off on a document like that to enroll my kids in school, asking if we were homeless...it cited a federal statute 42 USC something. Can’t recall signing one of those ever and we’ve moved quite a bit over the years.

If ordinary low information voters (most of whom are fine citizens) actually knew what the hell was going on in America today they would rise up. Unfortunately they are watching Jimmy Kimmel and peacefully raising their families in unknowing bliss.

Of course not. That’s the point of designating them homeless...to get around things like proof of vaccinations, school records, transcripts, etc.

“We don’t have enough Spanish speaking teachers to handle all these NEW kids in school who only know a dozen or so words of English.”

Homeowners will be glad (with a gun to their heads) to cough up the added school taxes to furnish Spanish speaking teachers.

...for illegal kids to get free school, meals and housing. Its compassion. BTW : they go to the head of the line over your kids for being minority races: for diversity and affirmative action.

Anything else would be racist and Xenophobia.

It’s complete and total bullsh*t that we even HAVE to consider this.

You come to my country, learn our language and adopt our customs, or GTFO.

And if you come illegally, just GTFO period.

Interesting how one accepted lawless behavior begets another... and another.

You can almost hear the fabric of our society ripping apart.

Who in their right mind would keep their kids in the public schools where these illegals are infiltrating. The quality of life in the US has turned to third world status. . .not withstanding common core and the rewriting of US History and unfortunately the schools’ children may unwittingly get a “south of the border” rendition of sex ed this year.

This has been in full effect in CA for some time. Some schools in my district happily advertise 100% homeless students. The get this status, and the benefits that come with it, by living 2 or more families to a house.

It’s not just Illegal non residents coming to our schools. Here in central VA we have “other” coming from out of our district to attend our taxpayer schools. Some come in a taxi. Who pays for the taxi?

The cost of schooling remains a mystery to me. A few years ago the public schools were spending about $10,000 per year per student. They have union teachers. Some of the local private schools where the students commute like the public school ones were charging $25,000 tuition per year. Their teachers are non union and cost less. What kind of profit margin are these private schools running? Is prestige worth $15,000 a year?

I would think that citizens could set up local corporations or cooperatives and become stake holders in the education of their children. Refuse the financial bait that forces schools to conform to the lefts PC controls. Starve the public schools out of existence with free market principles.
