To people on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, and many around the world who watched Wednesday night's violence unfold, it seemed like a scene out of another country.

Some in the military community say the problem is that police are getting the equipment without the same training and rules.
"To call this militarization doesn't characterize the military very well," said Josh Weinberg, an Army veteran who focuses on security issues for the Truman Project. "We always were trained in escalation of force." To call this militarization doesn't characterize the military very well.
The police apparently "had their weapons up and pointed at protesters who are obviously unarmed," he said. In the military, he learned that "your force posture matches the threat. You only raise your weapon if there is a threat that requires lethal force."
With a pointed weapon, Weinberg said, "you could make a mistake, maybe get startled, put your finger on the trigger and shoot somebody who doesn't deserve to be shot."

I barfed in my mouth when I heard the news reports about the “peaceful protestors” as every time that you hear a live news report you can hear gunshots in the background. News footage also shows the “peaceful protesters” throwing, brick, rocks and molotov cocktails at the cops. It has only gotten worse since the reverend race-baiter arrived on the scene.
Did CNN report that the “innocent looters” set Quik Trip store on fire after looting it?
I’m looking at a bunch of COWARDS hiding behind their cool guns and fatigues.
Aholes.
So sick of this militarized police crap.
Fn Rambo wannabes.
What makes them cowards——that one picture?
.
A pox on all their houses.
Those news reports are on the same juvenile incompetence level as the "unarmed teen-ager" meme.
That dead little boy "unarmed" hood could have strangled any cop there with his bare hands.
I was thinking about this issue when I saw a photo where one of the JBT's was pointing his turret mounted weapon at a daytime crowd of non-rioting protesters. What law allows the thugs with badges to point guns at non-violent, unarmed citizens?
It's a mentality, not a necessity, that's why.

Nothing soothes the paranoia of imaginary racism better than looting a few new 54” TVs, a set of new tires and 20 or 30 pairs of new shoes.
the whole mentality.
No, it probably has more to do with their stupid obsession with wanting to play soldier, without the risk. They want to turn their own backyards into war zones. You can't pick up a paper without a report of a cop somewhere emptying a few magazines into an innocent or at least killing their dog. As soon as police start acting like police again and give up the drama that they crave, they will start getting support and respect again. If they can't get respect on Free Republic, you know that something is wrong.
So the problem is what the police look like rather than with rioters trashing the city and firing at helicopters?
Stay tuned. There is far more to the story of the QuikTrip and what happened there and why it was ground zero and burned down. IF justice is done, then that TRUTH will come out.
NEVER point your weapon at someone you don’t plan to kill. What do you suppose the mil-thug on the left pointing his rifle at the unarmed guy in the blue shirt is planning?
I have no idea what happened and I know I never will. The press will see to it.
From the CNN story: “One officer was hit with a brick and broke his ankle, and another officer was injured as well, Jackson said.”
Right. The other officer was hit in the head with a Molotov cocktail. Had he not been wearing a helmet ...
As if media attention hasn’t been ‘escalating the situation’...
