Depends. Some cases I have seen it is excessive force. Responding to Molotov cocktails, not so excessive.

Depends. Some cases I have seen it is excessive force. Agreed. But it's the president's job in cases like this to keep everybody calm, and not appear to take sides. His comments here are just not helpful (no surprise there).
