Elections aren’t football games where you root for your team no matter what. Many people think they are though. This is what is wrong, fundamentally wrong with the American political system currently. We vote for our ‘team’ and not our values. So politicians represent themselves and not the electorate.
Elections are for selecting our representatives and legal executors. Somewhere along the way this was corrupted to voting for a political party rather than our political values. This makes us subservient to the party rather than the politicians subservient to our values.
You’re right. Saying there is no difference between Republicans with 96% conservative rating are no better than Democrats with 90% liberal rating is being doctrinally pure to the point of self-abuse.
