If the NSA did stuff like this folks would be screaming “invasion of privacy”.
The narcissists on FB are happy for yet another way to say “hey, look at me!”
and people wonder why I don’t do FaceAcheBook
You know, I often buy those VISA gift cards for myself. They are great to sign up for a service that will bill you monthly (if you don’t want the hassle to call in and cancel).
Just a year ago you could get one and start spending right away! Now you have to put in all of your personal details of who you are, where you live, etc.
You do realize that most people on here probably have a Facebook page including the owner of the site? There are many ways to use Facebook...many of them beneficial.
I used gift cards. But right before they changed their privacy policy I got to thinking... why not just spend cash? Nontracable, just like the gift card and there's no fee. That's when I went to all cash. Sure makes balancing the checkbook easier :)
Not a social media user/investor, but I’ve read how social media ads are more effective than traditional advertising. By an astonishing margin.
One more in the long list of reasons that, although I have an account with Facebook, I’ll not post anything on it. I can only imagine the nightmares I’d have if I had pre-teen children or teenagers.
I don’t use Google but did use Facebook at one time for a month. How do you get the stuff off your computer? Both are on mine still.
When Facebook was first announced, I got that blow-to-the-pit-of-stomach feeling that warns you to stay away.
Had the same feeling decades ago when the bf said, “We’re invited to a party in the HOllywood Hills. Sharon Tate will be there.”
Pays to listen to those gut feelings, really it does.
Facebook has an ap for smart phones.
I thought good, that will make it easier to post to facebook from my phone.
I clicked install on Facebook Messenger and got this information:
Needs access to:
Contacts/calendar
location
SMS (some kind of message thingie)
Phone (all my contacts, and permission to call any of them from my phone)
Photos/Media/Files
Camera/Microphone (can take a picture of my Cheetos stained fingers and listen to my calls. And probably like the NSA, anything said when the phone is within hearing distance)
WiFi connection info
Device ID and call information
And then the last one: (as if they might have missed something!)
OTHER
Then I tried the facebook ap, and had to agree with this:
Needs access to:
Device and app history
Identity
Contacts/Calandar
And the rest were duplicates from the Mess Ap
I hit cancel.
On TV the other night there was a story on this, talking about how facebook wants to have ALL of your information and the ability to do whatever they want with it if you use their aps.
I hope lots of people saw it.
Heck, we pretty much let them do that if we just have a facebook account anyway.
Probably so.
A couple of months ago I was going to buy a 10 year old Dodge van.
When I go to web pages with google ads, I have been getting tons of them trying to sell me dodge vans. LOL new ones.
I didn't end up buying the used van, just borrowed it.
Left a bottle of wine in it for the owner...
I wonder what that “stupid POS” who called me a “stupid POS” for warning about tracking on FB has to say. I don’t know because I’ll never speak to him again. Never. He’s an atheist.
Go shopping on the internet and watch what kinds of ads appear. Especially if you use ahoo.
Indeed. Buuuump for more donors!
There is no way I would get into Facebook ...
