There are dozens of Syrian Opposition groups. Most are secularists. The Islamist groups are nearly all terrorist groups. I can see no logic funding Aq-in-Iraq (ISIS) or Al Qaeda. They are uncontrollable looters out only for themselves with no capability of maintaining a stable society.
The logic of the ‘we trained ISIS’ is absurd. That we would attack Syria due to its support of Hamas and Hezbollah and to ensure Syria’s chemical and biological weapons do not fall into the hands of terrorists. Yet to accomplish this we train and arm Al Qaaeda and its affiliates? It’s a ludicrous presumption and an insult to one’s intelligence.
And what about bombing ISIS? So we trained and armed them in some secret program and now we’re bombing them? Why? Even if someone believed they would be loyal somehow after toppling Assad what idiot would believe they’d leave Iraq alone or not use chemical weapons on civilians?
ISIS, nee Aq-In-Iraq, has been active in Iraq since 2003. That’s where they’re from. First they were fighting the Coalition until they were defeated and went underground and into Syrian refugee camps. After the US departed they returned in 2011 and began successive attacks against the Iraqi government. But they’re ‘our guys’ eh? Utter BS.
This is the same Leftist propaganda campaign used for nearly 100 years against Westerners by Communists and Fascists. Demoralize the public and insert propaganda until they no longer support their own government and side with their natural enemies. Want some examples?
-France 1940 trade unionists and socialists cheering the Nazis as they entered Paris. Result: France falls and nearly 1 million French killed by under a Nazi dictatorship.
-Cuba 1959 ‘Our man’ and mob buddy Batista was so corrupt Fidel Castro was the only way to fix the Cuban society, to make it fair. Result: Castro overthrows Batista and 1 million Cubans are killed under a communist dictatorship.
-South Vietnam: The ‘CIA assassination’ of Diem made South Vietnam a defacto US puppet state. Therefore there was no moral basis to oppose the VC and NVA who were simply nationalists representing the welfare of the Vietnamese people. Result: 6 million killed under a communist dictatorship (including Cambodia and Laos).
-EL Salvador and Nicaragua 1980s: Support of the Contras and El Salvador military dictatorship against communist insurgents thwarts the will of the people and the stability of the region. Result: Over half a million killed by communists who ‘somehow’ indigenously acquired 100s of thousands of AK-47s, thousands of machine guns and RPGs and 100s of tons of plastic explosives.
I could go on and on. Suffice it to say you are the victim of an influence operation. It’s time to cheer on Putin now, eh?
I like how the apologist works in you. However there are so many resources to validate the “claim” as even Hillary Clinton, whom you no doubt support for the nex president, just accused Obama of doing exactly this. So I’ll help you out. Once you have read through these you will see the names of the terrorist groups, all which have folded into ISIS now. So, yes, we provided training, funding and weapons that are now under the control of ISIS. And yes that’s what Hillary faulted Barack on in her little speech Monday night that has Barak in an uproar with her.
So, if you think I am pushing propaganda, you might want to call up Hillary and ask her not to push the same thing, or tell Hagel not to tell the troops that, or stop Obama from admitting it.
