That is contradictory.

I like to remember the “Good Thief.” He was a sinner; he strayed. But Jesus welcomed him home on that day. “Verily I say to you, that on this day you shall be with me in Paradise.”

You interpret it your way, and I’ll interpret it mine.

The thief confessed and repented. And he did endure to his end on Earth.

No interpretation is appropriate for God’s word. The message is always clear, needing no interpretation.
