We’ve been told that diversity is our strength, but the unhappy truth may be something closer to the opposite.

The communists thrive on strife. "Diversity" implies disagreement then requiring settlement: That means more police, counselors, shrinks, prison guards, judges, lawyers, remedial "educators," welfare caseworkers, nurses... all with FAT pensions. If you're a communist, what's not to like about "diversity"?

Hence, they say "diversity is OUR strength," with conservatives as the enemy not to be included in "our." And they can say it with a straight face too!

They will be telling this author to not use the word “homogeneity” in case it gets perceived as discriminatory against gays.

The left only talks about "unity" within their ranks. They tell conservatives to tolerate "diversity" or they'll call us bad names they'd use anyway.

This kind of parsing is really easy to do once one takes a dictionary to the words. Realize for example, that "tolerance" is the willingness to accept a degree of error or evil which they keep expecting people to increase by degrees. It is an admission that they intend us ill but expect us to accept it. Strife builds the power of the almighty State.

I believe the U.S. Census recorded the total number of foreign-born individuals in the United States in 1910 to be around 15% of the population. Before the labor movements got into full swing, employers wanted to recruit foreign workers who would work for lower wages. Decent, stable and diverse in what industry ? Among what workforce ? It doesn’t sound like anything from the sweatshop investigators of the time that blamed immigrant workers themselves for the creation of such low wages and poor conditions.

So I guess my relatives should all go home, including my husband, a WW2 vet, and my grandson who plans to join the US Navy in September.

America has been multi racial since Pocahontas married John Rolfe, and multi ethnic since NewAmsterdam became NewYork and Washington allowed his Irish troops to celebrate St Patricks day.

Its stuff like this that prevents me from being a Republican like my husband.

As Milton Friedman noted, open borders are utterly incompatible with a welfare state.

Nevertheless, for selfish political aims and in furtherance of a fantasy, Democrats presently in control of the emigration apparatus are determined to flood the country with illiterate, uneducated, unskilled, culturally alien, politically benighted, often religiously intolerant, aliens whom they believe will overwhelmingly vote to expand the welfare state as they vote Democrat.

The left, of course, does not consider its fantastical vision to be a monstrous chimera but a utopia. The left does not consider that aliens swallowed in these huge gulps will prove culturally indigestible. Why?

They do not believe that there are practical limits on the capacity of the welfare state to improve every individual's life regardless of his individual capacity, virtue, or work ethic. They are oblivious to the unintended consequences of their good intentions. To cure problems they create with government intervention by investing in more socialism, thus generating more unintended consequences and, not incidentally, generating more Democrat voters.

All this comes from the statist's unshakable conviction in the power of government. This is the siren of today's darling of the left, Elizabeth Warren. The convictions of leftists respecting either immigration or welfarism are not liable to reason. All debate will be shut down by shouts of racism. The race card provides Democrats with a tactic that reinforce their self-righteousness, fills their purses, advance their careers, and grants them political power. Appeals to patriotism fall on deaf ears. To argue for fiscal sanity is pointless. Even pleas of national security concerns from terrorists infiltrating the border avail nothing.

Nathan Bedford's first Maxim of American politics: all politics in America is not local but ultimately racial.

Diversity is not our strength but might well prove our national Achilles heel.

Worse, is there anything in the administration of Barack Obama or the history of law enforcement as inflicted on us by Attorney General Eric Holder which gives the slightest support for the idea that a Caucasian minority will be treated with the same due process with which Republican administrations of recent vintage have treated minorities of color? Is there anything in the history of Africa which would lead one to that belief? Is there anything in the contemporaneous history of various councils in Great Britain which would lead one to that belief? Is there anything in the matter of Sweden's and France's handling of Muslim riots which give support to that idea? Is there anything on the horizon in American politics which leads one to believe that African-Americans will not continue to vote their race while whites, to a much larger percentage, vote without regard to their race? Is there anything under the circumstances which leads one to believe that we are not on course for a Balkanization in fact if not de jure?

Until conservatives can find a way to break through race politics-and I do not mean by pandering-the way forward remains unclear.
