I smell Iranian takeover here. Al-Maliki owes ultimate allegiance to Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Green Zone is for loading and unloading only, there are no coups in The Green Zone.

I suspect Iran might grab the whole thing. After all, it would guarantee the safety of those oil-producing areas that were just handed over to China without even a careless thought.

Might not be a bad thing. Iran, as bad as it is, is a bit more rational.

Think Communist Vietnam in 78 moving into Cambodia to depose Pol Pot.

Iran would also want to protect areas with a Shiite majority.

So can someone simplify this? The PM or whatever the leader is called there isn’t a ISIS fan. Is the military on ISIS side? Or are they taking over because of the lack of success against ISIS?
