Iraq’s parliament just chose a new President who refused to rename Prime Minister Nouri Kamal al-Maliki to a third term. Maliki declared the move unconstitutional and his own State of Law Party pulled support from him. Now his forces are seizing government buildings in Iraq, have closed the airport, and are surrounding the Green Zone.

Hopefully there’s a strong Iraqi general to knock off Maliki, ‘persuade’ the parliament to back him and provide leadership.

Can’t link, but if you lookup Brett McGurk’s Twitter (Sr State Dept official), the US is sort of seeking Maliki’s removal. It appears that Maliki is not going to wait for that to happen. Sounds more like when Yelstin defeated the coup-plotters.
It seems odd to me as well. But it seems like that is the current way to relay information.

FOX is always behind in real breaking news. On the weekends they show all their canned reruns all day. Maybe they are covering on that Carol Alt show that nobody watches. LOL
