Obama: Pulling All U.S. Troops Out of Iraq Was Not ‘My Decision' (it was Iraq's decision)

(CNSNews.com) - When he was running for re-election in 2012, President Barack Obama repeatedly took credit for ending the war in Iraq and bringing all U.S. troops home from that country. Today, at the White House, however, when talking about his decision to use military force against the al-Qaida-related ISIS terrorist group in Iraq, Obama said that removing all U.S. troops from Iraq was not “my decision.”

“Under the previous administration, we had turned over the country to a sovereign, democratically elected Iraqi government,” Obama said. “In order for us to maintain troops in Iraq, we needed the invitation of the Iraqi government and we needed assurances that our personnel would be immune from prosecution if, for example, they were protecting themselves and ended up getting in a firefight with Iraqis, that they wouldn’t be hauled before an Iraqi judicial system.

“And the Iraqi government, based on its political considerations, in part because Iraqis were tired of a U.S. occupation, declined to provide us those assurances,” Obama said. “And on that basis, we left.

Yeah. Nothing is his fault. ‘Specially any decision that worked out as badly as this one. But if it worked out great, knowing that you can find so many examples of such, please fulfill your duty to shout it from the mountaintops. What a disgusting piece of cowardly, lying filth.

“why do we need him? apparently he’s never made any of these important decisions on anything. always someone else.”

Yeah, he’s the Bowe Bergdahl of presidents.

IIRC...

Back then, our military wanted to leave a contingency of troops.

The Iraqi people wanted our troops to stay for protection. They said the terrorists would take over if the US wasn’t there.

Obama wanted to reduce the amount of troops. The Iraqi government was being taken over by (use any label here) and they said they wanted all troops out.

Obama changed course and went for a complete pullout.

The ‘assurances’ thing is just an excuse.

Disenfranchise the parasite class by all means necessary.

They must never be allowed to put the likes of a Hussein Baraka or any other marxist criminal in Federal office ever again

Unfortunately, he's right.

I have a feeling something will happen between now and November that will cause the election to be postponed indefinitely. He’s that desperate and that ruthless and that criminal.

Except President Flustercluck when he was still Candidate Flustercluck preemptively announced removing all US forces from Iraq was going to be his policy.
Which immediately told Iraq that the US was going to leave a vacuum in the region which Iran, the biggest powerbroker left, was going to fill, and which the non-shiite islamist radicals were also going to try to fill, leaving Iraq with no choice but to pick between the two, instead of three, alternatives.

There is some truth to that however since abandoning Iraq was a major campaign promise of Obama’s he deserves the credit for the current situation there,

Obama said that removing all U.S. troops from Iraq was not “my decision [but Iraq's decision].”

So was Iraq commanding US troops?

Exactly, he should have forced them to accept our presence until we decided they could handle themselves. Our CIA is very adept at convincing foreign leaders to comply, or changing the leaders to those who will.

Does he do the same thing in Afghanistan? Let them decide if we stay or not? Would we have let the German’s or Japanese decide after WWII? Hell no.

We need to have overwatch for generations to come; until we have wrung the Jihad out of the natives. It’s the only path to a civilized world.

It certainly can’t be his.
