Ted Cruz: Conservatives will take back the country
washingtontimes.com ^ | August 9, 2014 | Kellan Howell

Several GOP 2016 presidential hopefuls made public appearances in Iowa Saturday, including Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz who told conservatives to remain optimistic going into the next election cycle. During a speech at the Iowa state fair, Mr. Cruz told listeners that conservatives would take back the country from President Obama and Democrats, just as they did when Jimmy Carter was president, The Hill reported.

“All across this country, people are waking up,” Mr. Cruz said. “And they’re waking up to bring America back to the principles we have been founded on. There is a better way than the path we are on.” ....

“It reminds you of a new diet that’s really quite popular in Washington these days,” Mr. Cruz said after joking about a cow sculpted from butter at the fair. “It’s called the Obama diet. You just let Putin eat your lunch every day.”

Thank you for referencing that article Tailgunner Joe. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

If conservatives take control of the country now, even a worse group of liberals will take control of the country later.

The constitutionally limited power United States is a union of states. So it is the states, not any group of people, that need to take back 10th Amendment-protected state powers wrongly usurped from the states by a corrupt federal government which has taken advantage of generations of low-information voters.

And the states can either blow the dust off of the Constitution and start using it as the Found States had intended, or they might as well repeal the whole thing. I suggest that they start using it as the Founders had intended.

They see what happened in the senate primaries against GOP and that was with fairly strong to weak conservatives against long time c of c money backed incumbents

Not Ted Cruz who etched the model of winning such primaries he won in a runoff against bushy, GOP, c of c-backed sitting Texas tl governor

That's great, Senator. But if we plan on taking the country back and keeping it we'd better start figuring out how to deprogram the younger generations that are going to be running the show for the next 50 or so years. You know, the ones raised with Outcome-Based Education, Common Core, "conflict resolution", non-competitive sports, everyone makes the honor roll, and so on. Not to mention the 35-year old "kidults" and hipsters.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Blowing the dust off the constitution is the key. There’s homework to be done

Of course they will...especially after Ebola takes out the cities.

Strangely, that thought doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I would love to be optimistic but the deck is stacked against us.

Liberals have the Media on their side.

Liberals have Academia to educate the country against Conservatives and rewrite our history in their favor.

Liberals have an enormous voter fraud apparatus in place and control of the courts to make sure voter ID laws get no where.

Liberals have a swath of Illegal Aliens to vote in their favor.

Liberals use open primaries to ensure that the Republicans tickets are stacked with unelectable candidates.

I could go on and on but I think everyone gets the point.

Democrats also have one other thing going for them. Their constituents are blindly loyal. The likes of Pelosi, Obama, and Reid could carve up babies on television and they would still have their devout followers.

I have very little hope for this country.

Liberals have kicked God out of the country and shredded the Constitution.

"Blowing the dust off the constitution is the key. There’s homework to be done"

Here's the problem as I see it. The Constitution's relatively simple rules are arguably no more complicated to learn than a child's board game. The problem is that when you've been taught the Constitution incorrectly, as probably most people in this post-FDR era have been, then the learning curve to relearn it correctly can actually be steep, including for patriots who haven't really studied the Constituiton. I've been there.

You’re being a realist. Some damage can’t be undone, at least not for several generations.

When you feed the parasites for so long, cutting back on the goodies is nearly impossible without a violent reaction.

The process is similar to playing flute for a water-buffalo.

I will feel like we have a chance to “take back the country” when I hear the pols like Cruz say (and mean it) that this includes getting open homosexuals out of the military (reinstitute DADT) and stopping federal recognition of homosexual marriage (fix - by constitutional amendment if necessary - DOMA). Next would be instituting a distinct advantage to healthy (and monogamous) hetereosexual marriages. It is time for even hetereosexual immorality to be discouraged by encouraging the opposite.

THAT would be encouragement that we are instituting a real “conservative” taking back of the country. That is at the top of my list. However, if “taking back the country” simply means cutting tax and government....that isn’t enough in my thinking. Living in a “prosperous” Sodomite and sexually immoral sewer is not my idea of conservative.

Don’t know if FreeRepublic is typical of or more thoughtful than or less motivated than most conservative thinkers. But good men doing nothing, whatever their reasons are, is a triumph of evil

My suggestion is to get some motivation. Otherwise, as in any marine unit, quit spreading fear and dread. It doesn’t help morale

The answer is simple. Does it have to be easy too?

Me too.

Soooo, once they scoop up all the dead RATslime....what could we possibly do with all that developed real estate?

Maybe a museum, theme parks, monuments to the failed American socialist experiment?

I prefer to think the process is like overcoming naysayers in order to get to the moon

Or enduring pow camp for six years and coming back to mass hatred but establishing a career and a devoted family

Libs and the media always say we can’t build a border fence

Do conservatives believe that rubbish?

It will resemble this, from a London newspaper today:

“A nun in east London climbed to the top of a local building and ripped down a flag similar to the one flown by Jihadist militants in Syria and Iraq.”

reinstitute DADT

How about going even further back to when it was prohibited, not an option as slick Willy decreed with his DADT.

I love you Ted but the left wing train is too fast to stop. Time for a revolution and less talk.

A gowdy/cruz ticket would be awesome though.
