My admittedly unscientific survey indicates that for every commercial showing an intact family (dad, mom, kids), four are of the “Stupid White Male” type, and ten are of the “Happy, Fulfilled Single Mom” type.
Pathetic, isn't it. But, it wasn't always this way.
These are examples of 1950s advertising. The shift towards liberated women began in the 1960s and continued to grow to where now we see men caring for children while the wife (supposing there is one) is off working.
Pendulums swing. Perhaps the above Cheerios ad, if it succeeds, will set a new trend back towards a more traditional family.
Like the stupid add with all the women in business suits making the business decisions while the short,wimpy, white guy looks for their approval before nodding in agreement.
