I think maybe so. The way the news dribbled out and was denied then sputtered about then announced as something brand new today would indicate that the Emir did not order this and was presented with a Situation- Dear CinC, this is happening. You can take credit for it or get radically lameduckified right now.
For all his maybes, it is already happening and he is gritting his teeth and trying to figure out how to stop it without doing himself irreparable political damage. He faces being identified by former supporters as a passive Pol Pot.
He knew it was already in the hopper but the ‘maybes’ will be good enough for his left loon base. Who else could pull off ‘tough but indecisive’ and get political mileage out of both but The Great 0weewee?
I usually find Ledeen to be reasonable, but citing Ukranian sources that Moscow planned to blast an Aeroflot plane out of the sky and blame it on the Ukranians is, in the absence of incontrovertible evidence, Infowars type conspiracy mongering. I’m very disappointed in him.
