For all the money we have spent in the middle east over the last couple decades, what if we had instead put that towards energy independence?
Once we no longer need middle east oil, who cares what they do to themselves.
The problem isn’t “what they do to themselves” but rather what they plan to do to us. Which they will.
I do agree that were we energy independent, they would suffer loss of revenue from captured oil fields — but there’s always market in Europe and China and Russia.
