Hate to say it, but even if the base stayed home in November and the GOP’s hopes of taking the Senate evapourated, the GOPe *still* wouldn’t get it.
As far as “getting it” - I don’t think that’s the right analysis.
They’d rather a big gov’t democrat won than a small gov’t republican. They really would.
They don’t want to reduce the power of the gov’t, they just want to have control over it.
