The Day ^ | 8/6/14 | JON KRAWCZYNSKI

....decorated WNBA veteran Becky Hammon has never had the experience of shattering a backboard with a dunk. She's busting through the glass ceiling instead. The San Antonio Spurs hired Hammon as an assistant coach on Tuesday, making her the first full-time, paid female assistant on an NBA coaching staff...

A team from a conservative, Republican state leads the way.

Oh by the way: Becky Hammon is apparently an outspoken follower of JESUS CHRIST:

So look for the media to begin to hate her.

Not that I watch the NBA. But hey, if this girl can do her job while being a light for God’s kingdom, then may He bless her efforts.

Oh my... She also apparently realizes there ARE DIFFERENCES between the sexes:

“As far as women coaching men, it’s really silly. People ask me all the time, will there ever be a woman player in the NBA?” Hammon said. “To be honest, no. There are differences. The guys are too big, too strong and that’s just the way it is.

She’s just stating the obvious; if there was any chance of women competing with men in sports, they wouldn’t have formed their own professional leagues for soccer and basketball.

Yeah...and she also decided that being an American citizen was worth throwing over for a piece of metal. She’s a phony. To play in the Olympics she became a Russian citizen. I hope she falls on her face.

"Becky Hammon is apparently an outspoken follower of JESUS CHRIST"

Did not know that.
Just happy the discussion wasn't about her sexual preference (or deviency).
Good for the Spurs to not be the first pro franchise to hire an openly homosexual coach - and you know that's coming - "they" will force some poor city into it.

The Dallas Mavericks asked Brtiney Griner (6-8 basketball player from Baylor who can dunk) to work out with the team.

It’s still what it is — a politically-correct publicity stunt.

With so few positions open on an NBA bench and so many former players vying for them, the Spurs choose this option???

Please —

From the article below, I didn’t get the impression she is a traitor at all.

Is she playing in the NBA now? If not, just a cheap publicity stunt and a feigned demonstration of physical “equality”. The day a woman plays in the NBA is the day the WNBA is finished (which would be fine with me; I’m not a hoops fan and don’t watch either league). As the WNBA is dependent on the NBA for subsidies, it would be more efficient to consolidate them - though I suspect there would be one female player (at best) for a very long time.

Hammon named first full-time female assistant coach in NBA

She may have been good, even great, and maybe she's a good coach, but will she be able to get the street thug NBA players to listen to her and take her seriously?

Think what you want. If you’re an American citizen, would you play against the U.S. to get a shiny piece of iron?

Just like when an NHL team has a woman goalie in an exhibition game.

PR stunt, nothing more.

PR stunts are pulled by losers, not reigning champions.

Or pulled at an umbrella organization level to distract from some other event (Clippers) and promote the NBA as woman friendly since the majority of their fans are men.
