Devil’s Advocate time.

When I was young the news headlines were flooded by breathless coverage of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

Which led a girl I was dating at the time to prevail upon me to rush her to the ER as she was certain she had it and was about to die.

Turned out she caught the flu at the wrong time of the month.

Probably more than a bit of that going on now with Ebola. Particularly if you’ve been to Africa lately.

I don’t doubt that at all.

And I’d rather they freak out and get tested than ignore it and spread it around.

Exactly; I think that some people are just panicking and believing that they have Ebola. They get ill, see the headlines, and end up asking to get tested.
