JULY UNEMPLOYMENT: STILL IN THE DOLDRUMS, BUT A LITTLE WIND IN THE WORKFORCE SAILS

Since the media has spent the last six years ignoring the decline of the American workforce, and writing comically lunkheaded propaganda stories about how the unemployment picture “improved” when it was actually people giving up altogether and dropping out of the game, it seems appropriate to switch gears and applaud the small signs of life....

it has absolutely nothing to do with some mythical “recovery” finally chugging to life as Obamanomics suddenly starts working, after six years of failure and trillions of dollars spent. It’s because extended unemployment benefits were not renewed.

A good conservative perspective.

And, let me note, this was an instance where Boehner did NOT give Obama another extension of unemployment benefits.

Soon to end. For every 100 illegals entering the workforce, 65 American employees are displaced.

Since 2000, the biggest job growth has been illegal Invaders, and legal green card holders.

My step daughter got out of her dead end job as the single IT do every thing, just before the economy went bust, started her own business, with every one laying off their IT departments, her boomed and is doing so well she needs part time help, and has to farm out a few projects that do not fall to her expertise. Built her business on great customer service and good pricing, she even recommends free software when it is a useful fit for her clients.

Declining labor force participation (LFP) was the big (and, for a time, untold) story of the Obama recovery. Interestingly enough, LFP bottomed out at 62.79% in December, which is when Congress refused to renew extended unemployment benefits. By July, LFP had recovered to 62.91%, which is still down by 2.74 percentage points from the start of the recovery. This is equivalent to 6.8 million Americans giving up on being self-supporting via work.

To me, this is the number we should be focusing on.

If only 62.9% of working age Americans are working, that means the real unemployment rate is something like 37.1%.

That's disgraceful.

If there’s any wind at all, the Democrats will break it.

And Captain Ahab Obama is still obsessed with harpooning the Great White Whale.
